Committees Overview

WLUGSA committees oversee, plan, and carry out tasks related to specific areas of WLUGSA operations. All members are eligible to sit on any of our various committees. Please contact the Committee Chair or Executive Liaison for more information.

If you are interested in sitting on a committee, please contact the appropriate Executive Liaison or attend the first meeting of the semester, which will be posted on our Laurier Graduate Student calendar.

Researchers of Laurier Team

Executive Liaison: Academic & Research Director

The Researchers of Laurier Team, whose Executive Liaison shall be the Academic & Research Director and/or any member of the Executive will work with the Researchers of Laurier Coordinator to review graduate student application for “Researchers of Laurier” for the Graduate Students’ Association.

Wellness Team

Executive Liaisons: Student Affairs Director, Academic & Research Director

Responsible for creating social and wellness-promoting events for graduate students (under the guidance of the Wellness Coordinator), including planning, marketing, and execution.

Standing Committee - Policy Committee

Executive Liaison: VP: Administration

The Policy Committee has the following responsibilities:

Review existing policy and make recommendations for amendments to the Board.

Assist the Vice President: Administration in creating new policies. React to motions of the Board that affect the Policy Manual.

Any additional duties assigned by the Board or Executive.

Standing Committee - Finance Committee

Executive Liaison: VP: Administration

The Finance Committee has the following responsibilities:

Review spending and consider amendments to the budget for submission to the Board for approval.

Collect and organize data related to the financial priorities of the Corporation.

Assist the Vice President: Administration in drafting a budget, subject to approval by the Board, while considering information such as previous budgets, previous actual spending, and the stated priorities of the Board.

Recommend the fee(s) to be levied on Members of the Corporation to support the operation of the Corporation.

Any additional duties assigned by the Board or Executive.
