Our organization is divided into four general portfolios with different opportunities in each:

 

President

Priorities & Planning Committee

This committee is convened as required by the President, and is currrently closed.

Student Affairs

Contact the Student Affairs Director with any inquiries.

Special Projects Team

Responsible for creating social and wellness-promoting events for graduate students (under the guidance of the Special Projects Coordinator), including planning, marketing, and execution.

Recreation & Leisure Leaders

Responsible for captaining an intramurals team (Currently: Dodgeball and Outdoor Soccer), these leaders will also have the opportunity to assist the Student Affairs Director with other rec & leisure-related events such as Wellness Week and a Dodgeball Tournament.

Accessibility Commissioner (honoraria)

The Accessibility Commissioner initiates programs that generate awareness of the challenges faced by students with disabilities. He or she is a member of the policy committee and investigates policies and procedures that inhibit accessibility. Furthermore, he or she works with the Accessibile Learning Centre and students with disabilities to improve accessibility around WLU.

Policy Coordinator (honoraria)

The Accessibility Commissioner initiates programs that generate awareness of the challenges faced by students with disabilities. He or she is a member of the Policy Committee and investigates policies and procedures that inhibit accessibility. Furthermore, he or she works with the accessibility centre and students with disabilities to improve accessibility around WLU.

The Policy Coordinator works collaboratively with the Vice President Administration to research and write policies and procedures for the Graduate Students' Association. She or he is the chair of the Policy Committee, who will meet twice a month depending on the needs of graduate students and the GSA.

Policy Committee

The Policy Committee, whose Executive Liaison shall be the Vice President: Administration, and/or any member of the Executive when a policy issue pertains to their portfolio(s) shall:
Review existing policy and make recommendations for amendments to the Board.
Assist the Vice President: Administration in creating new policies.
React to motions of the Board that affect the Policy Manual.
Any additional duties assigned by the Board or Executive.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee, whose Executive Liaison shall be the Vice President: Administration, shall:
Review spending and consider amendments to the budget for submission to the Board for approval.
Collect and organize data related to the financial priorities of the Corporation.
Assist the Vice President: Administration in drafting a budget, subject to approval by the Board, while considering information such as previous budgets, previous actual spending, and the stated priorities of the Board.
Recommend the fee(s) to be levied on Members of the Corporation to support the operation of the Corporation.
Any additional duties assigned by the Board or Executive.

Researchers of Laurier Team

The Researchers of Laurier Team, whose Executive Liaison shall be the Academic & Research Director and/or any member of the Executive will work with the Researchers of Laurier Coordinator to review graduate student application for “Researchers of Laurier” for the Graduate Students’ Association.

Academics Coordinator

The Academics Coordinator works collaboratively with the Academic & Research Director to actively seek out current issues in Graduate Student education at WLU and determine appropriate issues for campaigns and programming.

Academics Team

Works collaboratively with the Academic & Research Director and the Academic Coordinator to actively advocate for and promote Graduate Students at WLU.

Special Projects Team

Responsible for creating social and wellness-promoting events for graduate students (under the guidance of the Special Projects Coordinator), including planning, marketing, and execution.
