Welcome to the AMICCUS-C Central Regional Conference 2012

PROFESSIONALS SUPPORTING STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS...

The student centre or student union concept originated in the early 1800s when Cambridge (1815) and Oxford (1823) universities in Great Britain established the first "unions," both initially taking the form of debate clubs or societies. The use of the term "union" arose from the intent of these societies to form a link and a degree of unity across the boundaries of the various college or facilities found on campus.

AMICCUS-C is recognized nationally as the innovative leader in supporting professional staff to significantly enhance the student experience at Canadian post-secondary institutions. Each year, national and regional conferences are held to engage in discussion, training, and networking.

CONFERENCE AIMS...

Answering The Call speaks first to the role of student associations on post-secondary campuses as the providers of front-line services and support to our members; we 'answer their calls' on a daily basis. While it might come as a surprise that one of the largest convention hotels in Waterloo, Ontario is also its warmest and most personable, the Waterloo Inn Conference Hotel takes great pride in surprising our guests every day – with contemporary, continually updated accommodations, an award-winning restaurant and impressive meeting rooms for events of any size.  Even our setting - overlooking 19 leafy acres next to a conservation creek - comes as an unexpected delight.

Stay at one of the conventional, chain-style hotels in and around the Waterloo Ontario area and you can expect an experience that will be… conventional.  Visit our independently owned destination and you’ll enjoy genuine service from a staff that takes the time to learn your name and listen to what you have to say.

We like to think of it as the art of engaging without intruding, and it’s how the Waterloo Inn personally tailors its approach to every guest’s needs.

Grand River Transit

Our local transit is GRT (Grand River Transit) and connects both the bus terminal and the train station to the Waterloo Inn, as they are all situated close to or on King Street.

Fares and schedules can be found at www.grt.ca.

The #7 'Mainline' bus will connect you from Kitchener to the Waterloo Inn, though routes D and E will take some detours.

Connections to Union Station in Toronto can be made from Waterloo via GO Bus, Greyhound, or VIA Rail.
